Congress Will Not Allow Tax Reform

Michael Lodge –

Over the last few months we have seen a President that is being fought by almost every lawmaker in Washington D.C.   It comes from the left and the right, and everything in between.  ACA could not be repealed and replaced because members of his own party were fighting other republicans, a party with no leader in Congress.  Reaching across the aisle between party lines and fragments of GOP groups became a fist of power and manipulation of power – nothing to get anything done.  Now remember, ACA created 21 new taxes when it was passed, so really tax reform and ACA go together.  If one can’t get passed the other can’t get passed.  For Congress it has nothing to do with getting things done, it is all about power and nothing more than power.

The tax code is a complicated monster.  It sits there and looks down on us Americans every single day.  It attacks our money, it creates businesses to go under, it creates criminals out of complex tax laws.  It overpowers us ever single tax season with time constraints to file our tax returns, and businesses are taxed at highest rates in the world.  But this does not matter to Congress, their thought process is how to spend more but never look at cutting expenses.  They look at the American people as the pocket-book that keeps on giving, no matter what.  They go to Congress looking for a way to get power, keep power, and put money into their various funds to run again.  But when America speaks up they turn off their hearing aids and go the party line.  Democrats never reach out across the aisle to get things done, and Republicans do the same.  Power is the route of all evil in Congress.  Political agenda’s stop America from moving forward.  Hate is rampant between the parties, you see it on social media where people are willing to call people names, put down their beliefs, and create hate upon hate.  You see when American’s see their leaders doing it they then turn to the same tactics.

So don’t expect Congress to give the President tax reform.  Congress is a political machine that is going nowhere for the American people.  Taxation without representation – remember history and why America became America?  We are at the same moment in history again where Congress will stop tax reform.  And the world looks at us and wonder why democracy even works in the United States with a Congress that is not focused on Americans.

“The United States is the world’s best hope, but if you fetter her in the interests and quarrels of other nations, if you tangle her in the intrigues of Europe, you will destroy her power for good and endanger her very existence. Henry Cabot Lodge”
